The Process

I take the various soap ingredients such as lye, olive oil, soybean oil, jojoba, coconut, vitamin E, beeswax and combine them with water using the cold process soap making method. First I measure out the water and ice, add the lye,and set it aside to heat up. In a large enamel pot I then melt the beeswax, remove it from heat and add my measured amounts of olive, soybean, coconut, and jojoba oils along with the vitamin E. I then let each pot sit until the temperatures are even. (The lye water mixture takes awhile to cool down to the temp of the oil mixture.) Once the temperatures are about the same I combine the lye water with the oils in the enamel pot and begin to stir.

I stir the mixture until it starts to thicken or “trace”. Then I add all natural herbs, and essential oils to each batch according to what type of soap I am making, and carefully pour the mixture into a mold. I only use 100% essential oil. You will not find perfumes in my soaps. I believe that things like perfumes and detergents are damaging to our skin and therefore will not utilize them in my products.

I do make an unscented castile soap that is just pure, real soap with no additives at all. I then use the castile soap to create my shampoos. It is not until I have combined the pure castile soap with the various oils and vitamins that I add essential oils for a wonderful all natural smell.

My lotions and lip balms are made with the same care and integrity that my soaps are. I believe it is important that we be aware of what we put on our bodies as well as in our bodies. You will not find artificial, chemical or unknown ingredients in my products, and I guarantee that only what is on the label is in the bottle (or bar… ). It is our right as consumers to know and to make educated decisions about things we choose to bring in to our direct environment and that of our families. My promise to you is that I will never sell a product I wouldn’t personally use or allow my children to use.

Always be careful when using natural skin care products to note all ingredients and avoid any which you are allergic to (nuts, for example). If any persistent stinging or redness occurs, thoroughly cleanse the area and rinse well with cool water.

Sometimes skin sensitivities can develop seemingly out of the blue. If this happens, discontinue use. Also, it is best to consult your doctor before using essential oils, or skin care containing them, if you are pregnant or epileptic.

ALSO, prices may vary at some of your local retailers, while I encourage a set price it is ultimately determined by the shop owner what their final price will be. You may find the prices on my web site a little higher than prices at festivals, this is due to online fees that I need to pay to make my soaps available to you. I will be posting a list of upcoming festivals and events if you wish to come see me in person! Thank you for your loyalty and support!
